We had the pleasure of welcoming Janet Hoyle (class of 1982) back to Tiffin Girls' School in April as she made a special donation to our archives. As she prepares to move house, Janet kindly brought in a collection of treasured school memorabilia, including her immaculately kept school blazer—a 100% pure virgin wool piece from Bentalls, a reminder of an era when blazers were still part of the uniform.
Alongside the blazer, Janet also donated school magazines, a recipe book, the centenary magazine, and a programme from a production of The Boy Friend—all of which offer a fascinating glimpse into school life during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Having attended the school from 1975 to 1982, Janet fondly remembers the centenary celebrations and even still has her posture badge!
We are thrilled to add these items to our growing archive, especially as we continue our student-led digitisation project. While blazers are no longer part of the uniform—helping to keep costs affordable—Janet’s blazer will now take pride of place at TOGA reunions, offering a tangible link to our school's rich history.
Janet has remained in touch with her close-knit group of school friends, many of whom still live locally—a testament to the lifelong bonds formed at Tiffin Girls’.
