Alumnae News |
As a huge F1 fan, alumna Jo Filbin (class of 2000 ) was thrilled to read that an all female team from the school has made the F1 in Schools STEM competition national finals. As she is also an entrepreneur in tech, she knows just how hard it can be to compete in what is a traditionally a male dominated area and to be taken seriously in these environments.
Jo was keen that her new business, called Vestir Al, should sponsor the team. Vestir is an AI-powered virtual fitting room, where shoppers can see clothes on a true likeness of themselves in 4D (3D + video). As their avatar moves, the fabric moves. They see their own body, face and skin tone, with their own natural movement. It’s not just a question of whether something is the right size, but whether it is “right”. Vestir is recreating the in-store fitting room online, changing online shopping forever.
Vestir has secured CHF 500,000 from the Swiss Innovation Agency and is working with ETH Zurich, one of the world's top 5 universities for Computer Science, to perfect the product, which will be launched in summer next year.
