Many of our current students are interested in a career in medicine but until now may not have known or thought about healthcare science, with all the different science specialisms, as an option. 5% of the NHS workforce are involved in 85% of diagnostic decisions but many haven’t heard of healthcare science. This talk will have inspired many to consider this career now.

Dr Rebecca Haines, class of 2001, currently a clinical scientist in Bioinformatics at the Genomics labs at Guy's Hospital. Studied for phD
at UCL’s Laboratory of Molecular cell biology and then did STP in bioinformatics in Nottingham.
Dr Isabel Palmer, class of 2011, is a medical physicist working in Radiotherapy Physics at St Bart’s Hospital, London. Went to University
of Nottingham 2011-2015 and also completed the NHS Scientist Training Programme – 3 year graduate programme.
Dr Charlotte Brierley, class of 2005, is a clinician scientist. She studied medicine in Cambridge and then Oxford for clinical school, completed her junior clinical training in Edinburgh and then went back to Oxford for haematology training (focusing blood cancers, mostly leukaemia). She is now coming to the end of a PhD (which took her to New York City for the past few years) in leukaemia genetics.
